OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) and allied law enforcement agencies are conducting a statewide High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) patrol on Friday in efforts to reduce serious injury and fatality collisions, as well as deter and interdict crime.
The 24-hour “Arrive Alive” emphasis utilizes agency data to help troopers determine areas where agency resources will make the largest impact in saving lives. The 24-hour patrol is supplemented with saturation periods during the highest likelihood of collisions and crime.
WSP troopers investigated more than 10,200 collisions across the state in the first four months of 2023. Of those collisions, 177 involved serious injuries and 64 resulted in fatalities. WSP troopers investigated 10,579 collisions in the first four months of 2022, 187 of which involved serious injuries and 95 in fatalities.
The WSP encourages all drivers to make good choices when behind the wheel, including driving sober, remaining distraction free and adhering to posted speed limits.
