Washington State Patrol District 8 Captain Graduates FBI National Academy

Bremerton – Washington State Patrol (WSP) District 8 Captain James R. Mjor II graduated from the 281st Class of the FBI National Academy (FBINA) in Quantico, Virginia. FBI Director Christopher A. Wray presented Mjor with his diploma on Mar. 17, 2022.

Captain Mjor was nominated by the WSP for his dedication, integrity, and effective leadership. He was the only WSP representative to attend the class this year.

Captain Mjor began his career with the Washington State Patrol on May 3, 1999. He attended the 85th Trooper Basic Training Class and was commissioned on August 16, 2000, assigned to Bremerton. Since becoming a trooper, Captain Mjor has been a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), a detective, Certified Technical Specialist (CTS), and has served many other integral roles within the WSP.

Captain Mjor was promoted to his current role as district commander on Feb. 12, 2019. Before becoming a member of the WSP, he honorably served five years in the United States Navy on active duty and five years with the United States Naval Reserves.

FBINA is a 10 week course that provides coursework in intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, management science, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science. This course serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies at home and abroad to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation.
