Extra DUI Patrols During Oktoberfest

Leavenworth – The Washington State Patrol (WSP) would like to remind all Oktoberfest attendees to have fun, but to be responsible. WSP will have extra patrols out during Oktoberfest. Our goal is to prevent serious injury or fatal collisions from occurring over the three weekend event. Troopers will be proactive in our efforts to prevent these tragic events from occurring.

Attendees are reminded to arrange for a designated driver prior to arriving. There will also be taxi services available to get you home safely if you have been drinking.

WSP will have additional Troopers out during Oktoberfest along with the Mobile Impaired Driving Unit(MIDU). The MIDU is a self-contained 37 foot motorhome that travels across the state to support all Law Enforcement during Driving Under the Influence emphasis's.The MIDU is equipped with three breath test instruments and two holding cells to efficiently process impaired drivers, which helps Troopers quickly return to patrol.

If you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, you will be arrested for DUI. If you are arrested for DUI, you could face up to one year in jail and up to a $5,000 fine. If you see a driver you believe to be impaired, please call 911 with the vehicle's description, direction of travel and license plate number if possible.
