State Patrol Detectives Seek Witnesses to 12-Vehicle Fatality Collision
Tacoma -- The Washington State Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a 12-vehicle double fatality collision that occurred at approximately 5:49 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. A black Volvo tractor-trailer loaded with produce was being driven by Gurjeet Sran, northbound on Interstate 5 and approaching Marvin Road (SR 510) in the right lane. Traffic ahead slowed and the driver of the semi swerved to the left and braked to avoid colliding with traffic in the right lane. The semi crossed all lanes and rolled onto its side striking several vehicles, including a Kia Soul which was occupied by two persons. The driver and right front passenger in the Kia were declared deceased at the scene. Three other victims from other vehicles involved in the collision were transported to St. Peters Hospital, for non-life threatening injuries. It was determined Gurjeet Sran was not impaired and was released at the scene until further investigation. Charges are still pending.
MAIT detectives are examining all aspects that lead to this collision and seek additional witnesses to the actual event or anything leading up to or after the crash. If you know anything about this collision, or know someone who does, you are asked to call or e-mail:
