Chief to Honor Good Samaritans Who Assisted Trooper in Motorcycle Collision

Today Chief John Batiste will award two civilians with the Chief's Coin for their exceptional efforts to assist a motorcycle trooper involved in a collision along 520.

Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday February 23, 2016, Trooper Tommie Pillow was involved in a single motorcycle collision along 520. Trooper Pillow severely injured his leg and was lying across a lane of the roadway.

Good Samaritans Nathan Redman and Jason Cullen witnessed the collision and immediately sprang into action. The pair protected the injured trooper by using their pickup truck to safely block traffic.  The two men also lifted and safely moved the motorcycle off to the shoulder. Due to the Good Samaritans actions, the trooper avoided further injuries.

The pair will be honored at 4 p.m. on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at District 2 Headquarters located at 2803 156th Ave SE Bellevue, WA 98007.

In attendance will be Chief John Batiste, Trooper Tommy Pillow and Good Samaritans Nathan Redman and Jason Cullen.
