State Patrol Detectives Seek Witnesses to Deputy Involved Collision
The Washington State Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating a two-vehicle serious injury collision involving an on-duty Thurston County Deputy Sheriff.The collision occurred Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at approximately 8:45 p.m. on SR 507 at Koeppen Road, one mile south of Yelm. The deputy was driving a fully marked Chevrolet Tahoe and was responding to a burglary in progress with his emergency lights and siren activated. He was traveling south on SR 507 and was in the process of passing stopped southbound traffic when the driver of a Honda Passport began a left turn from SR 507 onto Koeppen Road. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
MAIT detectives are examining all aspects that lead to this collision and seek additional witnesses to the actual event or anything leading up to or after the crash. Witnesses have told detectives there were several cars in the area at the time of the crash. Detectives would like to speak with all of these drivers/passengers.
