WSP Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) Deploys to Chelan to Assist with Fire Evacuations

Olympia -- Last night Chief John R. Batiste approved the deployment of 10 Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) members, from the Marysville and King County areas to assist with the road closures in Chelan County.

Four King County troopers and one sergeant arrived in Chelan County last night at approximately 10:00 p.m. Four additional RDF troopers and one additional sergeant will arrive in Chelan County this afternoon. The RDF team will provide coverage on the road closures while the local troopers will assist with evacuation efforts.

Fires continue to spread in Chelan putting more homes and businesses at risk. Fire resources from all around the state have responded in an attempt to gain control of the situation. The RDF team is typically deployed to assist in crowd management and other emergency situations.

As reminder, check the Washington State Department of Transportation website at for road closures within Chelan due to the fire.
