WSP Seeks Additional Witnesses in Kittitas County Fatality
The Washington State Patrol continues to seek the public’s help in providing information on the events leading up to a tragic fatality motorcycle collision that occurred on Monday, September 10, 2012, approximately 3 miles east of Cle Elum on Interstate 90 in Kittitas County.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:17 p.m. on westbound I-90, west of the Indian John Rest Area at Milepost 88.5. This collision claimed the life of a motorcycle rider traveling in a group of three (3) motorcycles. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that there was another vehicle that was involved in or witnessed the collision.
This vehicle is described as a silver minivan traveling westbound behind the group of motorcycles. The minivan passed the group using the right lane and was changing lanes to the left when the crash happened. The minivan pulled to the left shoulder after the crash then left the scene.
Further interviews with witnesses revealed a description of the silver minivan similar to the picture above. In addition, the witnesses also described a second white cargo style van that was in the area of the collision and may have stopped at the scene. The description of this vehicle is similar to the second picture on the right.
Detectives are seeking anyone who witnessed this collision, may have seen any of the events prior to and leading up to the collision, or has any information regarding this case. If you have any information or know somebody that does, please contact Detective Robert Schroeder at 509-925-2698 or email Robert.Schroeder@wsp.wa.gov.
