Missing Motorcyclist Found Dead Near Elbe

On Tuesday afternoon, the missing 29-year-old Michael P. Anikusko was found dead off of State Route (SR) 706 near SR-7 in Elbe.  His family filed a missing person report after Anikusko set out for a motorcycle ride on Monday and never returned home.  A pedestrian out for a walk found Anikusko’s body and his motorcycle over an embankment and alerted authorities.

Anikusko was riding a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R 750 westbound on SR-706 near SR-7 where he failed to negotiate the left hand curve in the roadway.  He left the road, went over an embankment, and struck a tree and some large rocks.  Anikusko had a valid motorcycle endorsement and was wearing a DOT approved helmet. Speed is a factor in this collision and it is unknown at this time if alcohol and/or drugs are involved.
