Memorial Weekend
The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is asking motorists to drive with caution during their travels this Memorial Day weekend.
Memorial Day weekend is a notoriously busy travel time for eastern Washington motorists with substantial increases in recreational vehicles, vehicles pulling boats and motorcyclists. The WSP is reminding you to stay alert, drive with caution and be prepared for the unexpected. Please be aware that road construction season is now upon us so plan your trip to include additional time to arrive at your destination safely; don’t be in a hurry. Troopers will be aggressively locating and removing impaired drivers from the road; so don’t drink and drive. Aggressive driving, speeding and occupant restraint violations will also be strictly enforced.
The Washington State Patrol’s goal is to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions from occurring on our roadways. We will continue to be proactive in our efforts to prevent these tragic collisions from occurring, but we need your help. If you see dangerous driving behavior, report it by calling 911 as soon as it is safe to do so. Be safe and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.
