Update: Witnesses Needed in Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Interstate 5

Before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th a female pedestrian died of her injuries in the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 after being struck by multiple vehicles.

At 12:41 a.m. the Washington State Patrol 911 dispatch received reports of a pedestrian standing alone on the side of the NE 145th overpass for southbound Interstate 5 over traffic. Troopers arrived at the scene to find a 17-year-old female pedestrian with fatal injuries in the center lane of southbound Interstate 5. Witnesses stated the female was struck by passenger cars and a semi truck that continued on. Investigators believe that several vehicles struck the female but continued on potentially unaware they had struck a person.

Washington State Patrol detectives continue to search for witnesses and involved parties. Several vehicles that pulled onto the right shoulder following the pedestrian collision are still unaccounted for. Among those vehicles being sought are a red pickup truck with matching red canopy and red passenger car with a black male occupant. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mederios at (425) 401-7719.
