Seatbelt Stop Finds Stolen Scrap Metal in Yelm

Thurston County -- On Saturday April 14, 2012 at 1:11pm a trooper conducted a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation in the City of Yelm. While approaching the vehicle the trooper noticed several steel grates and pieces of metal in the back seat and requested a Yelm officer to assist. While talking with the driver an officer from the Yelm Police Department arrived and advised he took a report at 8:00 am from the Eagle Car Wash off Yelm Avenue for approximately 168 feet of steel grates with an estimated value of $3000.00. Upon further investigation the driver was arrested and booked into the Thurston County Jail for Possession of Stolen Property.
