Washington State Patrol Seeks Additional Witnesses

The Washington State Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the one-vehicle serious injury collision that occurred just after midnight on February 2, 2012 in the southbound lanes of I-5 near the Stanwood/Camano Island exit. The crash occurred while the driver was fleeing from state troopers. The pursuit began in Skagit County when troopers attempted to stop a white 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver, a 37-year-old Sedro Woolley woman, refused to stop and fled south on I-5 into Snohomish County. As she approached the Stanwood exit (State Route 532), she lost control of the truck and rolled off the roadway to the right coming to rest on the southbound onramp to I-5. The driver was the lone occupant of the pickup. She was unrestrained and ejected during the crash resulting in major injuries and continues treatment at Harborview.

MAIT detectives are seekingwitnesses that may have seen the pursuit, collision or any event leading up to either or both events. If you have any information or know somebody that does, please contact Detective Sergeant Jerry Cooper at (360) 805-1192 or Detective Greg Wilcoxson at (360) 805-1195.
