Travel Safe and Be Prepared

Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, Skamania, and Klickitat Counties -- The Christmas and New Year’s Day holiday period is traditionally one of the busier travel times of the year.  Motorists will see increased traffic volumes and should be prepared for adverse weather and road conditions.  The Washington State Patrol wants to remind motorists to drive with caution and adjust your speed for the traffic and roadway conditions.  Plan ahead and allow additional time to get to your destination safely.  Check the weather and road conditions before you go and make sure your vehicle is properly maintained and equipped.

“It is my sincere desire that we get through the upcoming holiday week without any tragedies on our roadways.  We will have extra troopers out to assist the public during this busy time and to remove any impaired drivers from our highways.”  Washington State Patrol District 5 Captain Ron Rupke said.

The Washington State Patrol is dedicated to maintaining safe roadways during this busy holiday travel period.  Our goal is to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions.  We will continue to be proactive in our enforcement efforts to keep these tragedies from occurring.  Please don’t drink and drive.  If you observe dangerous driving behaviors, please call 911 as soon as safely possible.  With your help, we can all have a safe and enjoyable holiday travel season.
