Vehicular Assault Investigation Delays Traffic on State Route 516 for 2 Hours

Two vehicles are struck when a pickup turned left on a red light at State Route 516 and Meeker Street in Kent.

Just after 1:00pm this afternoon, a pickup truck traveling westbound on State Route 516 made a left turn on a red light at Meeker Street and struck two vehicles causing serious injury to one driver.

A silver Honda Civic and a blue Ford minivan were traveling east on State Route 516 in the left lane as they moved into the intersection with Meeker Street.  A green Nissan Frontier pickup truck turned left against the red light striking the Civic in the driver’s side.  The Civic rotated after it was hit and struck the right side of the Ford minivan.

The driver of the Civic, a 28 year old female from Kent, was seriously injured and taken to Valley Hospital for her injuries.  The Ford minivan received only minor damages and the driver, a 38 year old Seattle man, was uninjured.

The driver of the Nissan, a 47 year old male from Kent, was uninjured in the collision and in custody under investigation for vehicular assault.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision.
