Drive Carefully This Thanksgiving Weekend

The Washington State Patrol is asking motorists that are traveling during Thanksgiving weekend to drive carefully and be prepared for winter driving conditions.

Motorists will see increased traffic volumes and should be prepared for adverse weather and road conditions. The WSP reminds motorists to remain alert and drive with caution; always expect the unexpected. Drive at a reasonable speed taking into consideration the road conditions, weather and traffic. We are asking that you plan extra time into your travels so that you can arrive at your destination safely. Be sure that everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained, with children utilizing the proper child restraint devices. If you plan to drink this holiday weekend, plan on having a designated driver; never drink and drive.

The WSP is dedicated to maintaining safe roadways during this busy holiday weekend. Our goal is to prevent serious injury and fatal collisions. We will continue to be proactive in our enforcement efforts to keep these tragedies from occurring. If you observe dangerous driving behaviors, please call 911 as soon as it is safe to do so. With your help, we can all have a safe enjoyable holiday.
