Vehicular Homicide on SR-302 in Pierce County
On Sunday evening, at approximately 8:19 p.m., 51-year-old Candice A. Baima of Gig Harbor was killed in a collision on state route 302 at 144th St NW. Baima was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer westbound when she was struck head-on by Marvin O. Moody who was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup eastbound. Moody crossed over the centerline and struck Baima in the westbound lane. Baima was pronounced deceased at the collision scene by medical personnel.
A 14-year-old female passenger in Baima’s vehicle received minor injuries and was transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. Moody was transported to St. Joseph Hospital also with minor injuries. Troopers developed probable cause that Moody was impaired and a blood draw was administered. Moody is facing the charge of vehicular homicide.
