Washington State Patrol Seeks Additional Witnesses
The Washington State Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the one-vehicle fatality collision that occurred on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of Mounts Road. At about 11:10 p.m., a state trooper attempted to stop a Chevrolet pickup truck for passing on the shoulder near Marvin Road. The suspect fled and the trooper initiated pursuit. As the truck approached Mounts Road, the driver was partially ion the right shoulder and nearly collided with a WSDOT sign trailer. The suspect swerved hard to the left, the pickup traversed all northbound lanes and rolled over into the median. The unrestrained driver died of injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. MAIT detectives are seeking witnesses that may have seen any of the events prior to and leading up to the pursuit and collision.
