Chehalis Woman Identified After Leaping From Vehicle on Interstate 5
The Lewis County Coroner’s Office identified a Chehalis woman after she jumped from a moving vehicle along Interstate 5 in Chehalis on September 23rd. Jamie M. Jacaway, a 27 year old resident of Chehalis, was pronounced dead at the scene after she jumped from a moving vehicle along Interstate 5 near milepost 80. Jacaway was the front seat passenger in a 1999 Chevrolet van driven by Robert B. Hicks of Chehalis. Jacaway and Hicks had been at the Grace Four Corner Church in Centralia when she asked for a ride to Chehalis. Hicks offered to give her a ride and the two departed, entering southbound I-5 from Harrison Avenue. Hicks told investigators that Jacaway opened the passenger side door and jumped from the vehicle as he was traveling at freeway speed in the right lane. Hicks immediately stopped his vehicle and cooperated with investigators at the scene. The investigation is continuing, but no charges are expected as the evidence currently suggests that Jacaway voluntarily exited the vehicle. Next of kin has been notified
