Motorcycle Rider Seriously Injured on Interstate 5

A motorcycle rider was seriously injured when he struck the left side guardrail, northbound Interstate 5 just north of the Michigan Street exit, and was ejected onto the Michigan Street ramp below.

Just before 9:00 am, a 40 year old male from Seattle was riding a 2011 Ducati Monster 696 motorcycle north on I-5 when he lost control striking the left side guardrail.  The rider was thrown from his motorcycle, off the lanes of Interstate 5 onto the Michigan Street to northbound I-5 off ramp. 

The rider was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment after falling over 20 feet and receiving life threatening injuries.  The collision is still under investigation.
