South Kitsap Man Faces Vehicular Homicide Charges after Early Morning Collision
Kitsap County -- An early morning alcohol related collision in South Kitsap left one man dead and another facing a charge of Vehicular Homicide.
Troopers responded to the collision scene on State Route 160 at Long Lake Road shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The collision involved a 2003 Infinity G35 driven by 23-year-old Peter M. Sedrak of Port Orchard and a 1990 Geo Prism driven by 52-year-old Harold L. Keith of Port Orchard. Keith was the only occupant of his vehicle. Sedrak’s vehicle contained his wife, 27-year-old Rachel Sedrak, and 24-year-old Jeremy T. Dildy of Silverdale.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on State Route 160 when Sedrak’s vehicle, traveling at a high rate, rear ended Keith’s. The impact forced Keith’s vehicle off the roadway to the right where it rolled before coming to rest down a 20 foot embankment. Sedrak’s vehicle continued to the left where it struck a guardrail and sign.
Keith was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Rachel Sedrak was transported to Harrison Hospital with neck and back injuries. Prior to law enforcement arrival, passenger Jeremy Dildy called a friend to pick him up from the scene and transport him to his residence. Detectives caught up with him a short time later for questioning.
As troopers were investigating the collision, a hand grenade was located near the vehicles. The bomb squad responded and determined the grenade to be an inert WWII era pineapple grenade. No other explosive devices were found at the scene.
The collision blocked the roadway for nearly 6 ½ hours. Alcohol and speed are listed as contributing factors. Sedrak was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for Vehicular Homicide. Bail was set at $100,000.
