Early Morning Collision on I-5 Kills Lacey Woman
Pierce County -- Just after 3:15 this morning a 24-year-old Lacey woman was killed in a Collision on I-5 just north of State Route 512. The Lacey woman was a passenger seated in the back seat of a 1993 Dodge minivan traveling northbound on I-5.
The minivan slowed for an unknown reason and almost came to a stop in the second lane from the right (lane 2). A 24-year-old Tacoma man driving a 2007 Isuzu box truck (commercial vehicle) northbound on I-5 was not able to avoid the minivan, and collided with it.
The 24-year-old Lacey woman (minivan back seat passenger) was pronounced deceased at the collision scene by medical personnel. The 28-year-old male driver of the minivan and a 26–year-old female passenger were transported by ground to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured. This collision is still under investigation and it is not known at this time if alcohol and/or drugs are factors.
