Golfers Foil Commercial Theft
Co-workers driving to a golf tournament saw a company truck headed in the “wrong direction” and led troopers to stopping a stolen vehicle.
Three employees of the general contracting company Apollo Inc. were traveling to a golf tournament near Seattle this morning on Interstate 90 past North Bend when they spotted one of their construction water tankers also heading westbound.
With no construction projects west of the Cascades the employees made several calls to their ongoing construction sites in an attempt to account for all their water tanker trucks. The Yakima construction site reported one missing. The employees quickly called 911 and followed the tanker until troopers were able to stop it near Issaquah.
The driver, 27-year-old Collin J. Simanton from Richland, and 20-year-old Christopher Siewert from Bellingham were booked into King County Jail for possession of stolen property 1st degree.Yakima Police Department is handling the investigation for the stolen truck.
