One Dead after Fiery Crash West of Buckley

Pierce County -- -- At approximately 2:07 a.m. on Friday July 15, 2011, a green 1998 Ford Escort struck a power pole and burst into flames, when it failed to negotiate a curve. The incident occurred while traveling northbound on State Route 165, just north of State Route 162.

The unidentified male driver was confirmed dead at the scene. It is too early to know if drugs or alcohol played a role in this collision, but speed may have been a factor.

Roadway is back open after being closed for approximately four hours while troopers investigated this fiery crash.
