ADAT Troopers Stop 27 Aggressive Drivers in a 3 Hour Emphasis
In just three hours, two troopers on the Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team (ADAT) stopped 30 violators in the Seattle area on I-5.
On June 19th, two ADAT troopers conducted an emphasis in unmarked patrol cars on north and southbound I-5 in the area of Boeing Field in Seattle. The 30 stops included 27 aggressive drivers, 1 drug arrest, and 2 suspended drivers. Of the violators that were stopped, 14 included speed violations that were over 80 miles per hour, including 2 vehicles driving in excess of 100 miles per hour.
Aggressive driving is the commission of two or more moving violations that is likely to endanger other persons or property, or any single intentional violation that requires a defensive reaction of another driver.
The Washington State Patrol's Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team (ADAT) program is a proactive effort to locate and arrest those drivers who drive aggressively. The ADAT program uses unmarked/unconventional police vehicles equipped with mobile video cameras to detect and apprehend aggressive drivers.
