Head-On Collision in Thurston County Kills Olympia Woman
Thurston County -- On June 20, 2011, at 2:54 p.m., an 83-year-old Olympia woman was killed in a collision on Yelm Highway at Waldon Dr. SE.
The Olympia woman was driving a 1989 Mercedes-Benz westbound on Yelm Highway approaching Waldon Dr. A 29-year-old Olympia man, driving a 1993 Chevrolet pick-up, made a left turn onto Yelm Highway from Waldon Dr. The Olympia man turned into the westbound lane where there was on-coming traffic and collided head-on with the Mercedes- Benz. Both drivers were transported to Providence St. Peters Hospital where the 83-year-old Olympia woman was pronounced deceased.
The cause of this collision is still under investigation and it is unknown at this time if alcohol and/or drugs were involved.
