Results from Roadcheck 2011 Truck Safety Emphasis
Olympia -- For three days last week, Washington State Patrol’s Commercial Vehicle Division (CVD) participated in “Roadcheck 2011.” The 72-hour statewide safety emphasis had commercial vehicle enforcement officers and troopers out day and night inspecting commercial vehicles for safety violations and driver fitness. The State Patrol’s involvement in Roadcheck 2011 was to promote both safety and security on Washington’s highways through the inspection of commercial vehicles and drivers.
Officers from CVD received assistance during the emphasis from Clark and Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies, and police officers from Fife, Sumner, and Federal Way Police Departments.
The results of the three day event are as follows:
Statewide
- 1,189 vehicles were inspected.
- 214 vehicles were placed out-of-service for safety violations.
- 1,765 tickets for equipment violations.
- 43 drivers were placed out-of-service.
- 40 record-of-duty status violations.
- 1 driver was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol.
- 2 suspended drivers for license violations.
- 7 seatbelt violations.
- 432 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspection decals were issued to vehicles passing the inspection process and meeting CVSA requirements.
Roadcheck 2011 is a safety emphasis sponsored by CVSA, North America’s leading commercial vehicle safety enforcement organization. This emphasis is an international effort that ran from June 7 to 9 and is held throughout United States, Canada and Mexico.
