Help Us Help You When Calling 911
-Next Video in The "Good to Know" Series-
When you experience an emergency and need to call 911, chances are that your stress and anxiety levels are going to be high. The highly trained Washington State Patrol Communications Officers answered almost 600,000 911 calls statewide in 2010. They are skilled and experienced in asking the right questions at the right time to get you the help that you desperately need.
The next video in the State Patrol’s “Good to Know” series focuses on what’s important when calling 911. “We want to hear your story we really do. But we need to get some basic information first to get the correct resources to the correct location,” said Mark Layhew, WSP Communications Division Administrator.
So how can you Help Us Help You? Simply answer our questions. If you can give us nothing else, give us your location that way we can immediately get help headed your way. When should you call 911? If you need help right now, call 911. If you need other information that is not a priority you can look up your local agency business phone numbers to get what you need.
