19-Year-Old Olympia Man Killed in Head-On Collision

Thurston County -- Wednesday evening at approximately 5:17 p.m., 19-year-old Joseph P. Bidot of Olympia was killed in a collision at the 8400 block of Yelm Highway SE.  Bidot was driving a 1994 Honda Prelude eastbound on Yelm Highway when he crossed the double yellow centerline and struck a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser head-on.  Bidot was pronounced deceased at the collision scene by medical personnel.

The driver of the PT Cruiser is a 32-year-old Tumwater man. He was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital with serious injuries.  Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be factors, and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.  The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

This tragic collision hits very close to home for the Washington State Patrol family. Joseph P. Bidot is the younger brother of Yakima area trooper, Pedro Bidot. Our thoughts are with Trooper Bidot and his family, as well as the Tumwater man injured in this terrible accident.
