Work Zone Awareness
April 4 thru 8, 2011 is National Work Zone Awareness Week. National Work Zone Awareness Week is to raise awareness for those workers who are working to improve your highways, roadways and streets.
In support of National Work Zone Awareness Week, four members of the Washington State Patrol (WSP) worked a speed emphasis on SR432 near I-5 in the construction zone. Sixteen vehicles were stopped with 15 citations being issued. Traffic fines are doubled in a work zone. Today’s effort is not new, often trooper’s from the WSP will work this area on a weekly if not daily bases.
Injuries to road workers can be catastrophic or fatal. But statistically most injuries are to the motorist themselves. The WSP would like to take this opportunity to remind motorist to slow down, be patient and use extra causation when encountering a work zone.
