A Kent Family Has Two Separate DUI Arrests in One Hour

Two members of the same family were arrested for DUI in King County in one hour.  On April 3rd at 12:34am, a 25 year old Kent man arrived at northbound 405 at State Route 169 where he had been called by a friend who needed a “sober” driver to pick up his car after he had been arrested for suspicion of DUI.  When the driver arrived to pick up the car he was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

The same morning at 01:34 am a Dodge was stopped on southbound I-5 at the Boeing Access  Rd.  The driver, a 29 year old Kent man, was arrested for suspicion of DUI and driving while his license was suspended in the 3rd degree.  The driver stated he was supposed to be the designated driver.

Troopers later observed that although the relationship of the drivers was unknown, the two arrested subjects shared the same name and home address.

The Washington State Patrol reminds all drivers to make alternate arrangements when drinking.  The designated driver is not the driver who has had the least to drink.  Helping a friend avoid having his car towed doesn’t work if your car gets towed too.  Drivers placed under arrest often say they did not realize they were affected by alcohol when they got in the driver’s seat.  Avoiding driving any time there may be impairment is the safest choice.
