Troopers Fast Reaction Helped Save a Life
Thurston County - On March 19, 2011, at approximately 2:25 a.m. Trooper Justin Eisfeldt was traveling Northbound on State Route 101 near Black Lake Boulevard when he noticed a vehicle on the right shoulder with their hazard lights activated.
Trooper Eisfeldt pulled behind the vehicle and contacted the 56-year-old male who was changing a flat tire. The gentleman was almost done and Trooper Eisfeldt returned to his vehicle and waited with his lights activated to alert other drivers. Upon finishing and placing items in the trunk the gentleman collapsed to the ground. Trooper Eisfeldt requested a medical response while running quickly to his aid.
Trooper Eisfeldt observed the gentleman was unresponsive and not breathing. Sergeant Ray Brady with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Department heard the request and responded to assist. Trooper Eisfeldt and Sergeant Brady provided CPR until the medics arrived. Medics transported the male to Providence St. Peter’s where he is alive and listed in critical condition.
The Washington State Patrol makes a difference every day, enhancing the safety and security of our state by providing the best in public safety services.
