Driver Flees After Causing a Serious Injury Collision in Olympia

Thurston County- On March 09, 2011, at 2:03 p.m., State Troopers responded to an injury hit and run collision on Olympia’s Westside.  The collision occurred at the intersection of Mud Bay Rd and Delphi Rd.  31 year-old Michael L. Jackson was driving a 1990 Ford F-250 pick-up east on Mud Bay Rd. approaching Delphi Rd.  Jackson attempted to make a left turn onto Delphi Rd and struck a 54 year-old Shelton woman who was driving a 1984 Toyota Tercel.

After the collision occurred, Jackson and an unidentified male passenger in the pick-up fled on foot in different directions from the scene.  Witnesses gave a detailed description of the driver and with assistance from K-9, Officers located Jackson.  Jackson was approximately one quarter mile from the collision scene hiding on top of a motor home, which was parked in a car-port at a private residence. 

Jackson was apprehended and booked into Thurston County Jail for felony hit and run charges.  Jackson was not injured in the collision.  The female victim received multiple fractures to her legs, a fractured sternum, and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.  It is unknown at this time if the passenger in the pick-up was injured.
