Existing Services Enhanced to Help Victims Prove Their Identity
In a proactive effort to assist victims of compromised identity, the Washington State Patrol Identification and Criminal History Section is implementing a Compromised Identity Claim (CIC) program which enhances the existing services of the personal identification record by:
Providing the claimant with a letter identifying the claimant’s State Identification Number (SID) and verifying that the claimant is not the same person as the other individual(s) in the database with similar name and date of birth descriptors.
Providing the claimant with a wallet card bearing the claimant’s name, SID, photograph, and thumbprint.
Allowing the notation that a personal identification card has been submitted to the Identification and Criminal History Section to be disseminated on a background check. (Previously, personal identification information was suppressed from the public).
Providing this new service will increase the claimant’s credibility and make it easier for them to prove their true identity to potential employers, landlords, and others.
