Drive Safely This Winter
With the trees turning color and the rain starting to fall, the weather will soon turn bad. The Washington State Patrol would like to remind you that now is the time to make sure that your car is ready for it. Things that you might consider checking out on your vehicle are:
- Tires – November 1st you can run studded tires.
- Chains
- Wipers
- Brakes
- Defrost System
- Anti-Freeze
There are also some things that you might want to put into your car should you have any problems during these cold wet months. They are:
- Blankets
- Rain Coat
- Water
- Food Pack – Sometimes it takes a while for help to get to you.
- Extra Set of Clothes – Nothing feels better than dry clothes after getting drenched.
- Portable Radio
- Flash Light – It gets dark a lot earlier now.
- Batteries
- Work Gloves
- Small Bag of Salt or Sand
- Jumper Cables
- Brush – To remove snow from your vehicle
- Small Shovel
While driving this time of year, remember to give yourself some extra time. Drive slowly and stay alert to the weather hazards. Keep a safe following distance. Most importantly, ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT and PLEASE DON’T DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE!
