Fire Mobilization Ends for the Highway 8 Complex Fire

Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization assistance for the Highway 8 Complex fire in Klickitat County ended as of August 29 at midnight. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on August 26, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. at the request of Klickitat County Fire District #14.

All objectives for Mobe resources were met and team is in the process of currently demobing the final two strike teams for travel to their home jurisdictions.   The type 2 team will likely remain in place until the middle of the week, when they will transition to a small type 3 team. 

Under the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates the initial dispatch and continued administrative oversight of resources and personnel for the duration of the incident.  The Mobilization Plan is implemented to provide a process to quickly notify, assemble and deploy fire service personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when fires, disasters or other events exceed the capacity of local jurisdictions.  More information about the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan is available at:  http://wsp.wa.gov/fire/mobeplan/emobplan.htm
