Six Men Ejected in Rollover Collision, Driver Dies

The 47 year old driver of a 1993 Mercury Villager died Monday afternoon when he lost control on westbound Interstate 90 east of North Bend.

Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before it rolled over and ejected all six occupants near milepost 45.  The driver was deceased at the scene and two life flight helicopters were called to transport the two most critical passengers to Harborview Medical Center (HMC).  The remaining passengers were also transported to HMC by ambulance.  All surviving occupants are Seattle area men between the ages of 19 and 38.

While the details are still under investigation, speed and failing to wear seatbelts appears to be a factor in this tragic and preventable collision.

Washington State Patrol Troopers are aggressively patrolling for unbuckled drivers around the state.  The Click it or Ticket campaign is taken very seriously and vehicle occupants who are caught riding without their seatbelt fastened will face a $124 ticket.
