Fire Mobilization Update for the Leahy Junction Fire

State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Leahy Junction Fire (14 miles south east of Bridgeport), in Douglas County.  Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorized the mobilization of state firefighting resources on August 4, 2010 at 7:15 PM at the request of Douglas County Fire District 3.

The fire started at 6:09 PM on August 3, 2010, this lightning caused fire is burning in grass.  The fire has an established Public Information Officer on site. For questions on the fire contact Kay Keller at (360) 450-3284

The State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at Camp Murray has not been activated. 

Under the State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan, the Fire Protection Bureau coordinates the initial dispatch and continued administrative oversight of resources and personnel for the duration of the incident.  The Mobilization Plan is implemented to provide a process to quickly notify, assemble and deploy fire service personnel, equipment and other resources from around the state when fires, disasters or other events exceed the capacity of local jurisdictions.  More information about the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan is available at:  http://wsp.wa.gov/fire/mobeplan/emobplan.htm
