SkyFest Weekend Successes

SkyFest 2010 took off last Saturday and landed Sunday with a safe, family fun filled weekend at Fairchild Air Force Base.

SkyFest weekend’s success was in large part due to great public safety partnerships between Fairchild AFB, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department, the Washington State Department of Transportation, and the Washington State Patrol. All four entities worked together to ensure motorists who were traveling to and from the air show stayed safe and had the most time efficient travel as possible considering the amount of traffic present. We would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation throughout this busy weekend as we know it wouldn’t have been possible without your help.

As summer continues in the Inland Northwest, we are asking for motorists to help ensure that our roadways stay safe for all to travel upon. Maintain a reasonable speed based upon the speed limit and the conditions of the roadway that you find yourself upon. Be sure that everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained. If you intend to drink, be sure to plan ahead and have a place to stay or designate a sober driver; please don’t drink and drive. Our goal is to eliminate serious injury and fatal collisions and we will continue to be proactive in our efforts to accomplish this goal. If you encounter dangerous drivers, please immediately report them by calling 911 when it is safe for you to do so.

Drive careful and have a safe and enjoyable summer.
