Longtime Port Angeles Trooper Retires After 25 Years
Trooper Kenneth Ahrens has announced his decision to retire after dedicating 25 years of service to the Washington State Patrol and the citizens of the State of Washington. His last day will be August 3, 2010.
Trooper Ahrens graduated from Richland High School. He attended Peninsula College where he earned his Associates Degree. He attended Western Washington University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1996.
Trooper Ahrens began his career with the Washington State Patrol on August 15, 1985 as a Trooper Cadet assigned to District 5. He spent his time as a cadet working at Vancouver Communications.
Trooper Ahrens graduated with the 63rd Academy Class and was commissioned in July of 1986. Upon graduation, he was assigned to District 2, Bellevue. In July of 1990, Trooper Ahrens transferred to Port Angeles where he remained until his retirement. In the last few years, Trooper Ahrens was assigned the ADAT (Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team) car, was a member of the RDF (Rapid Deployment Force) team and was a certified collision technician.
"Trooper Ahrens has been a fixture in the WSP family in the Port Angeles area for many years. He has served as a mentor for many of our troopers and his dedication to the community represents the best of the Washington State Patrol. We will miss Ken’s strong work ethic, but wish him and his family all the best in his retirement,” said Lieutenant Clint Casebolt.
