High speed collision leaves one in critical condition
Thurston County- A 19-year old Olympia woman is in critical condition after being ejected from her vehicle during a collision. Alicia G. Schneider was driving a 2009 Chevy Aveo on the on-ramp from Evergreen Parkway to southbound State Route 101.
Schneider failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway. The vehicle rolled-over and Schneider was ejected. There were four other occupants in the vehicle that sustained minor injuries. Schneider was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Washington State Patrol wants to remind drivers that speed affects crash severity. The probability of serious injury increases as your speed does. Seat belts are the most effective safety devices in vehicles today, estimated to save 9,500 lives each year. Only one percent of people totally ejected from their cars had on a seat belt during the crash. Remember to always buckle up.
