Suspect Arrested in Pierce County for Identity Theft
On June 17, 2010, detectives from the Washington State Patrol (WSP) Identity Theft Unit charged Kenneth H. Bard, age 38, on five counts of Identity Theft 2nd Degree.
While troopers were investigating a collision involving Bard on June 15, 2010, they determined he had several outstanding misdemeanor warrants. During Bard’s arrest troopers discovered he had documents that did not belong to him. On June 16, 2010, Identity Theft detectives served a search warrant on the vehicle driven by Bard uncovering several birth certificates, military documents, and bank records of 15 potential victims of identity theft.
On June 17, 2010, five of the victims confirmed they did not know Bard and that they were missing important documents. The investigation will continue as detectives attempt to locate the remaining ten victims. Bard is being held at the Pierce County jail pending trial.
