Fireworks and Celebrating the Lunar New Year
Olympia—The Lunar New Year is fast approaching – Friday, February 16 – prompting families and communities across Washington State to gather together and celebrate time-honored traditions. To make the most of your Lunar New Year holiday, residents and visitors are urged to check with their local fire authority to ensure that proper fireworks codes are followed.
Although celebrations vary widely, fireworks are often lit at midnight to ring in the New Year. Residents and visitors are reminded that the sale and discharge of consumer fireworks is prohibited without first obtaining a permit from the local fire authority having jurisdiction. Contact your local fire authority to ensure that your celebrations are safe, fun, and legal. Ensure proper fireworks laws are followed.
