Safety & Prevention · Prevent Fires CampaignIn Washington State, most fatal fires happen in the home. These fires are not random—they are recurring, predictable, and preventable. For this reason, the Office of the State Fire Marshal has established a Fire and Life Safety Coalition to review fire causes and to develop a consistent message that can be used by the fire service.
The Coalition has overseen the development of this toolkit designed to educate Washington residents about the most common causes of fires in the home. The campaign focuses on preventing the leading causes of fire fatalities: smoking, electrical, home heating, and combustibles stored too close to heat sources. Download toolkit documents and customize them to meet the needs of your department. Fire agencies are invited to adopt the toolkit locally and share the information with their communities. Feel free to add your fire agency logo to any of the documents related to this campaign. Note: Some documents and forms
