Data Collection · NFIRS & Fire Fatality Reporting

Due to budget cuts, effective July 1, 2011, the State Fire Marshal’s Office will no longer provide support to the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).  Fire agencies may continue to submit their NFIRS data by choosing one of the following options:

  • Submit data through the Washington State Chiefs Association and their partner Emergency Reporting. You may contact emergency reporting directly at their webpage located at www.emergencyreporting.com.

OR

  • Directly to the United States Fire Administration Data Center.  To submit your data directly, visit the U.S. Fire Administration's webpage at www.usfa.dhs.gov/fireservice/nfirs.

Annual Reports & Fire Fatality Statistics:

Fire Fatality Reporting

RCW 43.44.060 requires any death resulting from fire to be reported to the Office of the State Fire Marshal within two business days. A short form has been developed to assist agencies in providing this important statistical information.

You may submit the information by phone or in writing on the Fire Fatality Report Form provided below. Address your report to the attention of Administrative Assistant 3 Mrs. Kathy Ritter.
