Fireworks Licensing · Program OverviewOur mission is to enact and enforce rules as necessary to ensure a minimum statewide standard of safety concerning the sale, manufacture, import, use, storage, discharge, and display of fireworks in Washington State. Fireworks are used across this state and, indeed the nation, to celebrate special occasions and events year round. Unfortunately, many people don't understand the classifications of fireworks, or, more importantly, the recommended safety precautions. RCW 70.77 was established in conjunction with the fireworks industry to set state-wide standards regarding the purchase, possession, sale, and discharge of fireworks in the state of Washington. These guidelines, along with the Educational Campaign developed in cooperation with the fireworks industry, help to raise public awareness in how to better protect adults and children from fireworks-related injuries.
