The Fire Protection
Bureau is accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Currently, fourteen IFSAC levels are available to fire service personnel: Firefighter I and II, HazMat Awareness, Operations and Technician, Fire Instructor I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Airport Firefighter, Marine Firefighting for Land-Based Fire Fighters Awareness, Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector I and Public Fire and Life Safety Educator I.

| Basic Fire Fighter 1 Training Program
|
The goal
of the Basic Fire Fighter 1 Program is to ensure that every fire department
in the State of Washington has the ability and the opportunity to ensure
their firefighters are provided basic fire fighter training that is
affordable, accessible, achievable, and based on community risk.

| Public Education |
| The section provides public education
information
to the public, the media, and the fire service community.
Major fire prevention campaigns include Fire Prevention Week, Risk
Watch injury prevention curriculum, arson awareness, and fireworks
injury prevention. |
Field Fire Inspectors
The Fire Protection Bureau has 10 Deputy State Fire Marshals located throughout the state that provides fire and life safety inpections to Nursing Homes, Boarding Homes, Group Homes, and Childcare Centers.
