The resources provided below are available for fire departments to use for training or to augment training as they see fit. Some resources are all inclusive and some are not.

DVDs & Videos

Listed DVDs and videos are available for loan from the Basic Fire Fighter Training Program. Use the Resource Loan Form below to request use of these resources.

If you have resources that you want to share, please send them to the Basic Fire Fighter Training Program address. Lesson outlines and Power Point presentations must be submitted on CD or DVD.

Instructor Development

The instructor development program suggests a model and voluntary pathway for a Fire Service Instructor's professional development and provides a means to list instructor availability in a statewide web-based register.

Shared Lesson Outlines

Shared lesson outlines and Power Point presentations may be downloaded for easy delivery. Student handouts may be built from the Power Point slides. It is the responsibility of each fire department to review the material and determine if it fits their needs.

Skill Verification Booklets

Skill verification booklets are available to track critical skills which are required to perform the duties and functions of firefighters. The Basic Fire Fighter qualification process is performance based. The primary criterion for qualification is individual performance in exercises and classroom activities as observed by an evaluator qualified in that position. These skill books are based upon NFPA standards.

To print the following Skill Verification Books in the correct page sequence, follow the directions found in the Skill Booklet Printing Instructions.

Regional Training Aids

A set of PowerPoint slides and transparencies for the 4th edition of IFSTA Essentials is available in each region library and may be checked out to fire departments and districts participating in the Basic Fire Fighter Training Program.
